Beep! Beep! Suddenly the park ranger drove up and told Janaki that there was not enough time to winch out the vehicle and jump start it. The compact four by four would have to be left behind in the ditch. Janaki reluctantly climbed into the ranger's truck. "In this terrain you need a dependable machine," the forest officer advised. "You need a..."

"Four-wheel drive," Janaki grinned with an idea as the experience had changed her DNA. "This is happening." She grabbed a coiled rope from the truck, quickly tying it from the ranger's bumper to the outbacker wagon. "All right, now!" she called. As the yellow buggy rose from the unmarked grave all the added accessories were stripped off. Even the Ora letters broke off the grille. Janaki jumped inside her rolling SUV. She shifted from neutral into second gear then popped the clutch. The workhorse engine roared to life with Janaki shifting through more gears in acceleration. Under biblical skies the two vehicles rushed down the dormant volcano with uninterrupted snow flakes constantly glittering in their descent to the earth.
