Close-up of Vedia F. deciding to leave the shrub

Some seeds have wings, others have sails to whirligig away in the wind. There are late bloomers that have a waxy coating which shields them from germinating until they go through a reduction process like passing through a bird's digestive tract or a forest fire. I'd argue this story sprouted one day when Vedia F. gazed up from the garden with large expressive eyes at a V-shaped migrating flock of fine-feathered friends and began to think it was time to turn over a new leaf, and for a change of scenery; even their hedge was evergreen.
